Bankside is an extraordinary place
to live and work, combining history with the height of modern architecture,
art and culture.
One of the most notable attractions is the ancient Borough Market, winner of several awards, including London Market of the Year by Time Out magazine readers for the second year running. Its history stretches right back to when the Romans built the first London Bridge between AD 100 and 400. It boasts a huge selection of fine food traders, shops and restaurants. The cast iron floral hall, originally from Covent Garden Market, is currently being restored to its former grandeur and the refurbishment should be complete by the summer.
Having evolved organically over a few years, the quarter boasts arguably
the richest and most diverse outcrop of London’s attractions, the
London Eye, Tate Modern, the Millennium Bridge, the National Theatre,
the Globe Theatre. . . the list goes on.
All this creates a unique urban landscape overlooking the River Thames
with its superb views of St. Paul’s and the City. |
